On Baba Yaga she is joined by guitarist Roger Tallroth of Väsen, Bjørn Ole Rasch on keyboards (also of Bukkene Bruse), Hans Fredrik Jacobsen on wind instruments, and Rune Arnesen on drums. Emotional, powerful music from a young Nordic fiddle master.
About Baba Yaga
Baba Yaga is a famous figure from old Russian fairy tales. She seems to be a frightful old witch, but she also has the ability to appear in the guise of a very beautiful woman bearing precious gifts. She can adopt all sorts of different shapes. She threatens to devour the hero of the tale, but also offers him sound advice and warnings. Baba Yaga knows the secret of the Water of Life and Death and where to find it, and may be kind enough to give it to a lucky recipient. She is the basis of the human psyche; she breaks down the boundaries of our personalities, dissolves our ignorance by forcing us to examine ourselves in the dark mirror of the soul, and grants us the deep wisdom that we can acquire only through an acknowledgement of the dark shadows of our being. In our meeting with Baba Yaga we can be forever transformed. But in order to receive her help, we must learn humility. -- Annbjørg Lien
